August Newsletter

The baby turned successfully prior to birth!
Did you know that Chiropractic works?
I imagine you do if you are getting this newsletter.

This past month I have treated a wide range of patients; from a pregnant mother that was 9 months pregnant, she came to see me because her baby was turned in a posterior position. After two adjustments the baby turned and was born in the correct position. She was due to have her baby in one day and her baby needed to turn!  This was a large baby that weighed 8 plus pounds. Success!  The baby turned and mother and baby are doing great. Mom came in this week to see me for a much needed after birth adjustment.
I also treated a man in his mid 30’s who is training for a marathon later this year.  He had never been to a Chiropractor and had been experiencing some back pain for 2 years! After two weeks of treatment, he was able to do a 10-mile run and felt great!
I began treatment on a senior gentleman who was facing knee surgery and very much wanted to avoid it at all costs. We began a treatment plan of chiropractic and cold laser and he is already very encouraged.
I began treatment with a young woman who is 19 and having some pain in her back, she also has some scoliosis. She was referred by another patient and she is already doing much better. It’s always wonderful when a young person discovers the benefits of chiropractic early in life.
These just represent a few of the different cases I see on a normal day. All different and yet all seeking a natural approach to pain relief. I love what I do and I love helping people get well and able to do the things that they love.

Nutrition: Statin Drugs (Cholesterol Meds) and Muscle Pain

One of the most common complaints of people taking statins is muscle pain. You may feel this pain as a soreness, tiredness or weakness in your muscles. The pain can be a mild discomfort, or it can be severe enough to make your daily activities difficult.
Try coenzyme Q10 supplements. Coenzyme Q10 supplements may help to prevent statin side effects in some people. I have had several patients that had no idea their statin drugs were causing their muscle pain. After beginning treatment with Co Q10, they all noticed considerable relief!  I would also recommend getting on our health packs which consist of a multivitamin, minerals, and essential fatty acids.  In addition, a healthy diet of colorful vegetables and fruits along with plenty of fiber will go along way in helping your body function as it should.

Case Study: An active woman wants to avoid surgery.

Treatment plan Disc Decompression and Laser.
I began treatment with a woman in her late 30’s who leads a very active lifestyle. She started a new job that involves a considerable amount of physical activity. She also enjoys boating, riding 4 wheelers and being outdoors.
She contacted me because she has some serious issues in her spine. She has a few herniated discs in her upper spine that cause serious pain and numbness in her arms.
I started a treatment plan of disc decompression along with cold laser treatment.
Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. That changes the force and position of the spine. This change takes pressure off the spinal disks, which are gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine, by creating negative pressure in the disc. As a result, bulging or herniated disks may retract, taking pressure off nerves and other structures in your spine. This, in turn, helps promote movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids into the disks so they can heal. ( definition from web MD)
In addition to stretching her, I follow treatment up with cold laser therapy. Cold laser is useful for pain and inflammation. I have only treated her 4 times and she has no pain in her right arm.  Her left arm is 70% improved as reported on her last visit. I used this combined therapy on numerous patients and look forward to giving her testimonial in the coming weeks.
For those of you suffering from bulging or herniated discs, I would encourage you to explore some alternative treatments before surgery, which can sometimes cause its own set of problems. There is a place for surgery and I will always refer my patients out to an excellent neurosurgeon if necessary.
